South Dakota Symphony and Creekside Singers in an Arrangement of a Lakota Amazing Grace
During my residency with the South Dakota Symphony in 2019, I arranged music for the orchestra to play along with the Creekside Singers‘ thrilling version of Amazing Grace. In this recording, Dakota flute master Brian Akipa plays an introduction, and then Keeper of the Drum Emmanuel Black Bear and Music Director Delta David Gier render three “push-ups” of Amazing Grace as you’ve never heard it before. This CD documents over a decade of music created through the SDSO’s pathbreaking Lakota Music Project.
